![]() ![]() Mozilla has committed to another year of security fixes, but after that, there won't really be a safe way to browse the web on Windows versions before 10. That left Firefox as the last remaining mainstream browser still supporting Windows versions earlier than Windows 10. Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Vivaldi, and most other Chromium-based browsers dropped support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 earlier this year. Mozilla is promising to keep Firefox 115 ESR patched with security updates until September 2024. ![]() PCs on those versions of Windows will be moved to the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) channel, which is updated less frequently but still receives security fixes as Mozilla rolls them out to other Firefox versions. Users of Firefox on these versions of macOS will be moved over the Firefox 115 ESR and will be supported until September 26, 2024.Firefox 115 will be the final update for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, but Mozilla isn't dropping those operating systems entirely just yet. We are ending support for macOS 10.12, 10.13 and 10.14. Users of Firefox on these versions of Windows will be moved over the Firefox 115 ESR and will be supported until September 26, 2024. We are ending support for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. If you need to prevent upgrades for any reason, you can use the new AppUpdatePin policy. Users will then be automatically upgraded to the Firefox 115 ESR. There are three more planned releases of Firefox 102 ESR, and then it will go out of support on September 26, 2023. If you use the ESR, we strongly recommend that you start testing with Firefox Beta to see if there are any issues you have with the new ESR. Going forward, we will only be backporting security fixes to the Firefox 102 ESR.
